I would like you all to take a step back and realize what has just happened here.

In a thread dedicated to avoiding being pushed out of social situations for lack of knowledge or interest in a subject you have successfully #nerdraged yourselves out of having a civilized conversation.

We all have different opinions but what we have in common is this community. So yell and fight now but let's not burn any bridges. A little more <3 please!

**This PSA has been brought to you by the JustinDe committee of concerned coders. :P

Thank you JustinDe.

I came into a forum that distinctly began attacking that which is the stereotypical OPPOSITE of nerd fandom. Sports.

So I created a tongue in cheek rant, lambasting that which is anti-nerd.

Of course we reacted in a "damn straight, totally agree."

So I took it upon my self, in my normal Andy Kaufman style to then attack nerdom itself. Even in doing so I hinted at the hypocrisy of the zombie nerd vs christian. Foreshadowing that VERY THING.

And what happened... "Don't attack my comic books and Star Wars. Shame be put upon you!"

This brought to you by the wonderful social experiments of lordofduct.

You do recognize I am on a tech forum, surrounded by nerds, and consider myself one of them. I am a Sega fanboy who reads bio-punk like Margaret Atwood. The statements were that... a joke... like Lewis Black bitching about EVERYTHING in the world, do you really think that man is that angry?

You probably should have seen that. Seeing as in my lambasting of sports and fast cars I hinted at the fact I grew up surrounded by sports, guns, and the very things I made fun of. I did say I'd run over any truck with my Peterbilt. Who the hell owns a Peterbilt but a truck driving red neck?

But of course, very few read that. Instead they saw me making fun of stuff they dislike. And that got angry as soon as I made fun of theirs. Reacting the very way that we point and laugh at the jocks for.

It surprises you that people like to huddle together for things they like? STOP THE PRESSES! :D Why, I think I'll sign up on a Cristian message board and say god isn't real. Let's see what happens!

No it doesn't surprise us...

personally it makes me giggle with anticipation. It makes me want to dig into the enigma that is social interaction. It makes me want to poke and prod and get the emotions spinning. One may call it trolling, I call it probing. Probing for the pattern that underlies social concourse.

Is it surprising that we are all sheep? Myself included? NO. Is it intriguing and interesting... DAMN STRAIGHT!

But you didn't see that. All you saw was a guy saying "READ A REAL BOOK" and got offended. That's awesome!

If you took the pointless, superficial bullshit out of conversation, you'd probably stop talking to most of your "friends." Sure, I have a very select group of maybe 1 or 2 people with whom I discuss "real" issues about my life, certain relationships etc etc, but a much larger group with whom I more or less ONLY discuss star wars, movies, games and zombies. 99% of all conversation is bullshit, it's just distraction, time-killing, or whatever else you want to call it. The fact that you shoot the shit about nascar or Shakespeare or comics or movies or theoretical physics makes you no better or worse than anybody else (well, maybe nascar fans are an exception to this).
The OP was just asking what everyone doesn't like to talk about. It might make for an interesting read if everyone stopped giving a shit.

That's the thing dude, it's not going to stop.

Because no matter what we all say we don't like, SOMEONE is going to not agree and get their panties in a bunch over it.

The only thing we probably will all agree on is the dislike of sports or other stereotypical topics not enjoyed by the stereotypical member of this forum. And even then it's not a guarantee, but they'll probably keep their mouths shut because they're the minority.

And how interseting of a topic is that. A "Sports Suck" topic? A "Nascar isn't a sport" topic? Really? That's going to be SO MUCH FUN!

I'll say one thing, I'd rather hear about Dale Junior or Brett Favre than somebody's printer not working properly or some popup they're unable to get rid of!

I can honestly say that I don't know enough about anything to "quiz" or get angry when other people don't know something. Zelda on the other hand, I'll admit to never having played Majora's Mask or Phantom Hourglass, but I know almost every detail of what I HAVE played. So if I were to be completely fangirl over something, it would be that... or Sailor Moon, though it's been ages since I've seen the last 2 series.
((However, if someone on Steam or something says they're a die hard Zelda fan, I do have to give them the quick quiz ;). 2 main questions people get wrong are what color her dress is in the original and what color is her hair really. EVERYBODY gets it wrong!))

Even though I admit myself relatively ignorant on most subjects, I do know enough to at least hold a conversation. There are a few topics which I cannot do that though, which include: sports (haha just like everybody else), pop culture, movie stars, cars, specific guns, and politics.

I've heard smack talked about him. Randomly came across a post or two of his, nothing to out there. Wouldn't mind seeing what you refer to. Maybe then I'll have someone to talk to. Watch him be moz in disguise, I'd love that. Or atleast a moz like character.

sorry moz is a buddy of mine.
