LimeWire got Squashed!

Posted 29 October 2010 - 06:14 AM

Hi Everyone,

I just read this on cnet, and I was wondering what people's opinions are. Do you think that LimeWire's shutdown by the RIAA will actually do anything?

I don't know about anyone else, but I stopped using LimeWire about 7 years ago...

I haven't bought music in about 6 or 7 years. And I'm not about to start. This really won't change much for me.

Darn. LimeWire was just so simple. That's what made it so popular.

But you know as well as any topsider that LW was just a tool. Any one could easily extract useful content from that venue without becoming victim to virus', porn, mal or any other ware that they didn't want to. Accordingly, there are myriad other venues, if not better, safer, and less visible. It is the natural evolution of "this" path that we've chosen. And we accept it because we're better than normal people...right?

I gave up on Limewire a long time ago...I was downloading so much music by the artists that I soon found out I was downloading the whole CDs..so now I just use torrents they're much faster and I can get the whole discography :taz:

Most virus infected machines that come into my shop for repair are running Limewire at startup.

Doesn't matter, there is always someone to step up to the plate. usenet binaries, then IRC, then napster, then baresare, then morphius, then limewire.... who's next? Dunno, but I'm sure it won't be long.

I mostly use online file hosting services because you have a guranteed downloading speed... If your torrent has no seeders, then you don't get the file you want...
