C# windows service designing

Posted 07 November 2010 - 06:26 AM

Hi , I need to create a windows service that shall get the data from some files in directory and convert that data in required formats and then insert that data in database,
Shall I create the windows service in multithreaded mode or single threaded mode?
because the files from which data shall be inputted can be of two types :
1. Some files will be created newly on daily basis with datetime as filenames.
2. Realtime files: There will be only single file and data will be inputted to the same file.

it really depends on how big the files are going to be and whether the data is time-sensitive. If they are fairly small files(under 2MB), then single-threaded is fine. If they are going to be huge files(50MB), then you should do multi-threading.
