VB.Net and Symbol Scanner

Posted 08 November 2010 - 10:47 AM

I've got a symbol LS3408 barcode scanner connected to my pc via a serial connection.

In my vb.net app, I would like to "disable" the scanner so the user cannot user the scanner until the correct form is open on the program.

I've programmed other Symbol/motorola devices on Windows CE based units using their .NET SDK, but I believe this will not work for the unit I am using.

Has anyone done this? Basically, I want to disable the "red" laser until the correct form is open.

Thanks.

Nick

Well, I'll answer my own question :)

Motorola support has contacted me and said that this particular scanner model it unable to "disable" the laser scanner. He did state a couple models that this is possible in, but they will not suit our needs.

Regards.
