Java SE binary stops working

Posted 10 November 2010 - 06:33 PM

I'm working on a project for my programming class that requires a GUI. I started to write one and tried to compile it and I get a pop up window saying "Java Platform SE binary has stopped working." Not sure how to fix this, I tried restarting eclipse and checking my code for errors but couldn't find any. Here's my code:

import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;

public class GUI extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
	private final int WIDTH = 300;
	private final int HEIGHT = 250;

	public GUI() {
		setTitle("Practice");
		setSize(WIDTH, HEIGHT);
		setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);

		setVisible(true);
	}

	public void buildPanel() {

	}

	public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {

	}

	public static void main(String[] args) {
		GUI window = new GUI();
	}
}

Works for me. Try updating your Java JDK. It should include a JRE with it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the JDK and JRE. I'm still getting the same problem.

Try running the .class file from the command line. You may have configure Eclipse with the newly installed JRE.

well when I try to run javac GUI.java it says javac is not recognized as an internal or external command

EDIT: I can't compile it in the command line but I can run the .class file in the bin file. Still having the same problem though.

Windows gives me this error if it helps:

This is more of a computer problem than a coding problem because your code works flawlessly. I'm going to move this to Computer Support to see if you can get better help.
