I can't be the first...fox pro?

Posted 07 December 2010 - 11:09 PM

Ok, I've googled a lot and have found some resources but, I'm quite possibly looking at rewriting a code base from VFP3 to .NET (c#). Yes its a decrepit system. Yes (worse yet) it's written by someone not trained in programming.
To me it looks like a mangled VB language(don't know vb). Since it's use seems to predate the internet age (and the time I've used a pc) the searches seem skimpy...

So, I know I've seen VFP mentioned here...does anyone have any favored resources regarding it?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I think gabehabe is working on a similar task. Generally, it shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you have access to the initial code base.

The original fox pro was written for dos & was later purchased by Microsoft & packaged as VB databasing tool. You probably can't find much on it because it's a dead language. I was once employee by a place that ran it. I also only worked there for 6 months.

I hope it isn't a terrible experience. Still, work is work and I'm happy to have it.
