Random Observations

Posted 15 December 2010 - 11:47 AM

Ever notice: That English Muffins taste 1000x better when toasted?

I actually find them to be rather nasty before being toasted but I really like them after... strange because they are already cooked. I mean Twice baked potato's are ok when only baked once.

One of the folks I do business with had breakfast delivered overnight, fedex, saturday morning delivery. And it was 2 bags of fresh bagels. They were DELICIOUS. Toasted, a little butter, some peanut butter, or a little jelly. Delicious.

To stay with the theme of the topic, I never realized how good portobello mushrooms are with a good brown beer, but last night I had the 2 together and it amazing.

P.S. @supersloth: fuck you.

we all old school up in here... let me here it for the forums!

And yeah I love the butter and pb on a toasted english muffin. It's one of those universals, I don't know who invented it, I never here anyone talk about it, it's just something your dad did, and in turn you do, and your son will do when he sees you do it. And you have to dunk it in your coffee... even if you don't drink it, you do when you have an english muffin with butter and pb. The classic blue collar breakfast, that's what it makes me think of. Flannel coats, dirty gloves, and the smell of diesel.

Fresh dill + capers in any cream/white pasta sauce, especially with seafood. I know most of you americans are looking at this and thinking "Pickle noodles?" because you think McDonalds has something to do with food (and by extension, mcdonald's pickles are either dill or pickles: fermentation != pickling). Try it.

I feel like such a foodie dork now.
