For Macs, PHP is preinstalled, but you need to turn it on, and install MySQL or your favorite database. There is also MAMP, which is a separate version of Apache, MySQL and PHP.

Use Wamp. Download it from wampserver.com. Install it and copy your php code to a folder in WWW Folder in WAMP installation folder.

I use WAMP for my code.
once you have the code saved in WWW directory, go to your favorite browser (make sure to set your default to your favorite upon installation) and type in localhost/filename.php. That will run your script, pending syntax errors.
Or right click on the WAMP icon where your sound level is displayed and click localhost and select from a list of your files.
Also click phpMyAdmin for database! Very fun stuffz
