Apparently you didn't actually look at the links I provided.
Two examples:
Twitter's web interface runs on Ruby on Rails.
Hulu's web interface runs on Ruby on Rails.
EDIT: for clarification, no large scale site (Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, etc.) is supported by one single technology or web framework. Generally, they will have one framework supporting the front end and multiple technologies and frameworks supporting the back end.
