Exactly how powerful is Django/Rails?

Posted 03 January 2011 - 05:55 PM

According to this post, Django is not powerful enough to hold up an enormous site. So my question here is, exactly how powerful is Django/Rails and what are their limits?

I'm talking about using them for the whole site, not just parts. Like RubyGems.

Apparently you didn't actually look at the links I provided.

Two examples:
Twitter's web interface runs on Ruby on Rails.
Hulu's web interface runs on Ruby on Rails.

EDIT: for clarification, no large scale site (Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, etc.) is supported by one single technology or web framework. Generally, they will have one framework supporting the front end and multiple technologies and frameworks supporting the back end.
