Logic Pro and/or Logic Express alternatives for Windows

Posted 06 January 2011 - 09:32 AM

Like the topic says, I am just wondering if there is a Windows alternative to this, what they are, which is best, etc....
Thanks in advance.

As far as freeware Audacity and similar programs can be found on sourceforge.net and if you want to pay for (or :pirate: . . . "obtain"*) software there is Adobe Soundbooth and Fruity Loops Studio.

I have used each (Soundbooth less than the other two) and from what I could tell about Logic Studio, these programs can meet or exceed your needs.

*I'm not posting the links to these, that's what google is for

FL Studio is nice for beginners. On the cheap side, Presonus Studio One, or if you have the money for it, Cubase (the best in my opinion).

Cubase for sure. That is the program that is the most similar to Logic, in some ways better actually. It depends on what you want to do though, Reason is also pretty good but depends on what you want to do, if you're JUST editing sound files, then Audacity is plenty, if you're recording with a midi instrument then you want a decent sampler, look at Reason and Cubase. If you're recording a band, ProTools is great, Cubase is great. Reason has Reason Record now but Reason started out as a MIDI sampler and I would stay away from it for big projects with lots of audio files. But really, the closest thing to logic is Cubase.

Why hasn't anyone suggested REAPER? Its such a great program, and its only $60 (or you can keep pressing still evaluating as long as you want).

http://www.reaper.fm/

I also use fl studio.
