Yesterday, you probably noticed I added a large search bar to the header.
Today, I've updated that search to use a lightbox type interface instead of taking you to a new page. I've also added and improved the "Refinements" which let you only search snippets, blogs, tutorials, or member profiles.
Please test and let me know what you think? I'll work on improving the CSS some this weekend, but hopefully this is a much easier way to search the site.

Yeah i noticed the new popup box earlier, i love it! It makes it much easier to search.
EDIT: I actually had the member search feature as a suggestion but never posted it.

Well, it's wicked fast, but I've got a couple of comments:
Clicking outside the lightbox or hitting escape should close it. I didn't notice the close button for a minute there because I'd scrolled down.
Why open in a new window/tab? We're all savvy here, us programmer types know how to make something open in a new tab, so all you're doing is taking away the choice.
There's also something funny about the way the rest of the site is really quite colourful but the search results aren't. It makes them look a bit out of place. Not sure what you could do about that, but it's just something I noticed.

Ok i do agree with moopet on both problems..
Also if you search in only the forums.. Results from tutorials are also coming.. Not vice-versa..

I do like the concept of it. It is really fast. The only thing that I would suggest is again, the click outside of the box closing it and the CSS could use a little bit of coordinating with the rest of DIC.

K. Search results close on Escape key, clicking outside, or clicking close.
I'll work on CSS'ing it some more tonight.

The clicking outside works, the close button works, but I am having issues with the escape key not working. I am using Chrome 8.0.552.224 (latest stable version)
