Starting a Website

Hi

I have a website in mind which I would like to create but I am not sure what the best languages are to create what I have mind, I would like some advice. Below is a description of the required functions:

Standard homepage.
A registration page with with text inputs and the data must obviously be stored in a database for future use.
A send email page, where users can directly email me.

As I said I have sort of an idea what to use but some expert opinions would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Well, what languages do you know? If you don't know any I would suggest looking at tutorials on here to get the hang of it. Probably the best place to learn this is at w3schools.com. You'll just get stuck if you haven't gained much knowledge of the languages. Don't let that discourage you. I would suggest HTML, CSS, and PHP for this kind of project. What do you mean by standard homepage, I never knew that there was one? A registration and database can be make with PHP and MySQL. The email page can be made with PHP.:)

As EnvXOwner stated its all going to depend on what you already know.

If your a Java Expert you could do it in Java..

If your will to learn, PHP is probably best suited to this sort of task, and is really easy to learn, you will also need to get at least a basic understanding of HTML/CSS which again is really easy to learn.

There are however other languages that you could develop, I personally prefer coldfusion its very simple but licenses are rather costly.

You could also do it in Java.

If you have no coding history i would suggest you try out HTML its a good language to start of with.

Databases i find MySql to be the best.

Please do take everyone's idea into consideration. Research everything. Try them out and see if they work for you. If they don't scratch them and try something else. Just remember to try

Guys thanks a lot!

I do have quite extensive HTML and CSS knowledge. It seems that most of you rate PHP to be the best option, I will start looking into it.

Thank you all.

If you ever run into trouble you can always ask questions on here. We have individual forums dedicated to the languages listed in the above replies.
