Getting rid of Chrome Orange Outline

Posted 12 January 2011 - 04:37 PM

I've seen a lot of problems with people not knowing how to get rid of the yellow outline (in Chrome) that surrounds focused elements. This is really just a quick-tip. I just thought it would be useful to add.

:focus    {
outline: 0;
}

That's pretty much all it is. Enjoy!

I believe Safari does this also, around input boxes but to a slightly lesser extent as I don't think it surrounds focused content too..

I know it effects, as far as my knowledge, textareas, input boxes, anchor tags (selected by tab) and other focusable elements. So divs and others are not highlighted.

Ah yes with the exception of Div's of course :) Personally, I don't like the outline chrome displays, especially on websites where the search bar isn't as long as the background image or what appears to be the background image.. not entirely sure why they don't extend the text area with to an appropriate width.

Well, Chrome and Safari both use webkit so they're going to have somewhat similar effects.

LazerKittenz, instead of posting small how-tos or snippets like this in the help forums, perhaps you should start a blog?

You can start one here:
http://www.dreaminco...usercp&tab=blog

Then, you can share as much as you like, and you don't fill up the help forums. :)
