I know this is probably irrelevant but the php developers has released php 5.3.5
I read This Article about the major bug they fixed. I have to say it was a major issue though. :)

Thanks for the news. I hadn't realized they released a new version. I must say though, I have never ran into such a situation where I needed to convert string to double that would generate such an error. Usually I go the other way around, but certainly something that could cause a problem in certain applications. Thanks for letting us know! :)

This was a MAJOR bug. Folks running on 32 bit architecture could have their servers crashed by just passing a simple variable in a URL string to just about any application. Crazy.
