Hi I'm new, introductions are in order!

Posted 28 January 2011 - 10:41 PM

Hey everyone! I am new to programming and I was recommended this site for ideas and help getting started.

So yeah I guess that's it for my "Introduction". Kind of lame I know.

Looking forward to being an active part of the community!

Welcome to Dream In Code! We have plenty of entertainment in the caffeine lounge and plenty of help in the appropriate forum. Be sure to read the rules and use code tags or people may refuse to help if you don't follow guidelines. Enjoy your stay at dream in code!

Thanks for the replies!

I am starting to learn Java now, mostly because I would like to code mods for a game called Minecraft. :D

Eventually I would like to learn the industry standard C++ so that I can develop games.

Unfortunately I don't know where to start with C++ and the books I have looked at haven't helped much, so that's gonna take awhile. Seems like Java is pretty straightforward and is, at least so far, quite easy to understand.

So I joined this site at the behest of my friend, and so far it has helped a good deal. Looking through the ideas postings and looking at tutorials has been very informational.
