I agree that when its bought its yours. Forever. Done. Period. That is why I don't like WoW I paid 40$ for it now I should be able to play all I want. Although I agree with blizzards use of keys. Once its activated, its yours and if someone else gets it, Goodluck

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the file in question already hit the net? Does Google have to surrender their databases to Sony?
I hope this negative PR hurts them so bad. What the kid did is wrong & illegal. No doubt about that. But how wrong is it of the two guys that are always the 1st in line to buy the latest & greatest console, only to smash it on the cement outside of the store as everyone watches. Their computers are never requested by sony, & yet they make tons of money off destroying the private property of the manufacturer.
Sony (& all console manufacturers, in my opinion) have to face the fact that their audience is a lot smarter than the 90's or 80's audience that gladly paid through the nose for technology. If the consoles are going to continue to become more like a computer, then more people are going to continue to hack them, make home brew games, & play pirated copies. It comes with the territory.

You pay for the maintenance of the network and the bandwidth you consume. Not to mention the support and continued development of the game.

Edit - before the debate over physical or not - code is "physical".. it resides in the real on storage mediums.
It is definitely tangible and fungible. As it exists as some state of a physical object, whether the presence or not of an electron. And is trade-able.

I believe that source code is a tangible object and I'm not generally willing to debate otherwise as I feel it's a pointless debate about semantics.
Not to say that debates concerning semantics are alway worthless, just in this case it serves more to distract from the central point.

It an important point whether it is/not tangible as it determines if can be taxed or not.
I guess enjoys pay more tax.

Just because something is tangible does not imply taxation. Sex is tangible, you don't tax sex.

You have to look at it from the view of a company. You need to compensate for loss, if that loss becomes to big, then your company is doing something wrong and you need to rethink your business plan.
Now sony's business plan sucks, since their console has been compromised. But instead of rethinking their plan they instead decide to sue the hell out of a little kid...

I think someone needs to slap the judge that said Sony had the right to take someones personal property.

Basically any time you violate a civil law the victims have the option to take your property as compensation.

A soon you purchase the product that product is your to do a you see fit.
Play on it or hit it with 12lb lump hammer.
It up to you. Sony it's no longer yours. Shut Up.
Until Sony starts put on the external of their packaging the full T&C.
So I can decide whether or not to be bound by them, before making my purchase.
Then I respect their argument, until then STFU.
We don't they do what Microsoft is doing with the Jail Breaker of WP7?

lol, no! There is a huge disclaimer warning from the FBI before movies that says exactly that. You purchased the video for private, in home viewing only.
