Google claims Bing copies its search results

After noticing curious search results at Bing, then running a sting operation to investigate further, Google has concluded that Microsoft is copying Google search results into its own search engine.

So apparently that's how Bing is doing so well....copying Google's search engines. In this article, Microsoft is caught in the act...My thoughts aree that I will not be using Microsoft for a while until they can somehow refute the evidence.

Again, Microsoft says that what they are doing is not "cheating", but Google says it is. IS it not siphoning off SOME data? Yes. However, point well made.

Where is the official statement from Google on this and why would they announce such a thing via a third-party? For now it's simply a user claiming he busted some search term scheme.

Core, I was under the impression that it was Google employees doing it. Here's the full article:

As to why Google has not released a statement yet, I suppose I don't know. Microsoft has released a statement though.

Google went public too soon, They should ave started more sting operation so as to have gathered data beyond doubt.
Even if bing is stealing the search results, they would have stopped now

Google didn't go out too soon with it. They did it because they wanted to mess up the bing search party. It's basically perfect timing. BiggerB did you even read the whole thing? I do find myself it odd that google has not done official statement yet, but maybe they come out with it quite soon with all the testing's they've done.

All I see is this:

Quote

Danny Sullivan is editor-in-chief of Search Engine Land. Heís a widely cited authority on search engines and search marketing issues who has covered the space since 1996. Danny also oversees Search Engine Landís SMX: Search Marketing Expo conference series. He maintains a personal blog called Daggle (and maintains his disclosures page there).

He is not a Google employee and the site, as far as I know, is not directly affiliated with Google. Just throwing this out there...

Second, If bing is coying results then why only 7 of the 100 sting attacks worked?

you know what I say...

this debunks all the paranoid people who say "google knows everything you look at!!!1!1!ZOMG!11!"

Seems like they can barely figure out what MS is looking at on their server with out months of research.

heh

If you ask me, this is the biggest load of BS I've seen in a long time. Claims that "supposedly" came from Google don't make any sense. It sounds like they're saying that Bing watches what people click on most in their Google searches and uses that to help rank their sites, however, the proofs that they are using are using search keywords that no one would ever use. So how does that support their case? Also when you compare a "normal" search (try looking up something that you would normally look up on both search engines) and you will see a pretty significant contrast in the results that each of them shows.

Why should Google worry? It's the best out there right now. It's not like I'm gonna convert to Bing anytime soon. Besides, I tried Bing once and the results weren't good. Bing sucks. Me <3 Google.
