Have you ever seen a old-ish movie (80's-90's) and recognized one A list actor in a not-so-fresh role? This has happened so many times and it's always fun and a bit of a mindfuck.

For example!

Samantha from Sex and The City, she was in Big Trouble in Little China! I shit you not!


Vince Vaughn the guy who appears in a lot of comedies these days, he was in Jurassic Park 2! Yep that's him.


Johnny Depp, he was some emo greaser. Never remembered him in the role, but there you have it.

Hole-e-shit! Jim Carrey looks twelve in that picture.

Roger Corman also gets a B-Movie royalty nod. Death Race 2000 with Sly Stallone as Machine Gun Joe. It's part satire and part social commentary with your violence. You can't say slow moving pedestrians are worth points until you see this movie. The remakes are crap.

I'm old. I also have a good eye for faces. I note them in the original flick and then am amazed they go anywhere. Red Dawn was one of the first PG-13 movies and also a rogues gallery for future "where are they nows"; Charlie Sheen, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey.

I remeber Jim Carry from some made for TV vampire comedy where he looks fifteen.

TV is worse. If the face is interesting enough, I'll know I've seen them and it will nag me; it's usually from a Law and Order episode. I recall taking one look at Neelix, in all his makeup, and saying "Cool, it's the dude from Benson!" Faces can throw you, but once they move and talk...

Just recently, "Coming to America" is on TV. ( Whatever happened to Arsenio Hall? ) The "hold up guy" shows up waving a gun and I do a double take; it's Samuel L. Jackson! Sam's got maybe fives lines and you know it's an early role.

Tim's been in everything, hard to single him out for just one. He has a great voice and does sleazy real good. I recall being delighted when he was in the short lived show Earth2.

Another guy from Earth2, also with a cool voice, was Clancy Brown. You probably don't recognize the name, but he was the big bad "Kurgan" from Highlander and whenever I spot him it amuses me. He's usually a cop, serial killer, or some kind of heavy.

I prefer character actors to big stars, unless they're one and the same. Two guys from very old TV shows you'll recognize; Tom Hanks and Ron Perlman. Ron maybe not as much. Big ugly dude, great voice, best known for Hellboy probably. Was the Beast from a long running Beauty and the Beast TV show. The Beauty was the original Terminator chick.

Tom, of course, got his start on the TV show "Bosom Buddies" where he plays a transvestite. Bringing us back to Tim...
