Weird things you do when you're alone.
Posted 14 February 2011 - 08:01 AM
I sometimes stand in front of the bathroom mirror and keep looking at my eye until I dissociate from myself and then I start making weird contorted faces. I usually end up creeping myself out and walking away without turning away from the mirror.
Another thing I used to do is place little mountains of sugar near an anthill entrance. I would feed a specific colony and seal the entrance of a rival colony down the block. I wonder if they ever managed to conquer the whole block? ...
What weird shit do you do?

I've kind of done the same thing with the ants, I've left trails of sugar water from the entrance of one colony to the entrance of another colony just to see which would win. protip: there are a lot of different kinds of ants here, this has good potential as a betting sport.
the other thing I'm guilty of is randomly combining or inventing bits of languages and having imaginary pieces of conversations to see what the new pidgin speak sounds like. Some of the more memorable pieces include a word for 'sexual identity' which can be broken down into "I like looking in the mirror" (homosexuality), "I don't mind looking in the mirror" (bisexuality) and "I hate mirrors" (homophobia), and another one for 'subservience' which in some cases means 'disciple' or 'monk' (Sidharma's monks, Jesus's disciples, etc) and which, in other cases, means 'slave' or 'toy' (eg, HP employees, a child's teddy bear).

Whenever I'm horribly stuck on something that is not working (when I'm programming), I try to talk it out. I literally talk to myself saying "well this goes to that which does this and.... Oh there's my error. This is doing this instead of that!". It's helped a lot.

Talk to myself.
I create some kind of noise so that I don't get completely bored.
Boredom == Boredoom

^ I think everybody does that, lining things up and switching eyes.

I talk to myself a lot.
At work.
At the grocery store.
In my house.
Sometimes I get weird stares.
Haters gonna hate.

Have you ever noticed that one eye sees colors better than the other? I notice that my right eye seems to see colors in a bit brighter hue but my left eye makes out details slightly better. Now, I do have a lens prescription which would account for the sharp/not-so-sharp difference...but the colors?
Or maybe that's just me.
I also sing country music in the Jeep...but mostly because the songs are about beer and I like beer.

I think this has something to do with your dominant eye. To find out which is your dominant eye, hold your thumb under an object that is across the room. With both eyes open, site the thumb to just under the object, then close each eye. Your dominant eye will be the one that is open and has your thumb still lined up below the object.

I just tried that. Neither one was lined up under the object. Tried with both thumbs (to see if one side or the other made a difference) but same result.
I have no dominant eye.

To see your dominant eye, make a triangle with your hands and focus that triangle to a distant point.

Then close one eye and vice versa, without moving your hands. Which eye has the target 'locked on'?
