Favorite Holiday Movies

Posted 06 December 2006 - 05:35 PM

Ok, clearly movies like the Die Hard trilogy and Lethal Weapon will show up, since they do happen to take place at christmas time, but as far as from my childhood:

A Wish for Wings that Work (Opus and Bill Version)
*I'd be surprised if you even knew this one.

Christmas Eve On Sesame Street
Muppets Family Christmas
Garfield Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Animated)
Claymation Christmas Celebration
Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Alvin and the Chipmunks

:) I have a long list I know, but feel free to repeat your favorites or add your own~

They usually trot out a Sinbad or two over here. I've come to expect them.

I'm a little suprised that you would have....Bloom County and it's related spinoffs were already on the way out by the time you may have been old enough to appreciate them! :)

I would have to say that a Christmas Story is the movie that I think about first when I think Christmas

I know the movie you're talking about...I was merely saying that the cartoons of Berkely Breathed were known not only for pushing the edge of acceptable comics reading, but often contained subtle political commentary that I would be surpised that someone who was 7 (at the time, according to your profile) would be enthralled with. I'm not denigrating you...I'm impressed that you liked Bloom County and it's characters. Of course, the movie itself was not a deep commentary on everything, I just inferred from your like of the movie that you may have enjoyed the original comics upon which it was based.

Certainly no offense intended. :)

Scrooged with Bill Murray in it.

And, courtesy of my unforgiven sister, Yogi Bear's First Bloody Christmas (God, I hate this movie!!!). These are the first christmas movies I can think of.

ooooohhhhhhh! ok, perhaps i'm still 7, lol...

My parents taped it by accident one year while taping christmast cartoons, i'm sure i just liked it because it was a cartoon at that age, but as i got older, i just grew to love it more and more!

*no offence taken, just took a little explaining for me to catch up it seems.

ok, i've heard of classics going up in price, but what the hell:
A Muppet Family Christmas
1 used & new from CDN$ 631.87

apparently it's out of print on VHS and DVD so any copy that exists is essentially priceless.
