Generating Images on the Fly

Posted 14 March 2002 - 03:53 AM

Well,    we finally got around to installing the GD librarys on the Guardian Hosting servers.

I setup a simple image generater script to play with it.
It's so cool I just had to share  8^)

I didn't get too involved with it, but I'm hoping it will be a good primer for any of you that want to get started learning how to dynamically create images using the GD librarys.

Source and Explantion is included.

Interesting stuff.

Just out of interest could you load an existing image and then place text or another .png over the top?

We (work) once had a script running using script-fu (gimp scripting language) and perl to generate rollover menu buttons for a dynamic website. At the time I was still just a pure designer so I dont remember exactly how it went but I did think it was cool stuff.

Yeah, you can do that,

instead of
$image = ImageCreate();
you'd use
$image = ImageCreateFromPng();

Guardian Hosting, Assimilate Now!

Was this whole thread a subtle way of advertising? :)

Naw, no advertising.  I'm not even on GH's servers yet but I've been trying to get my hosts to load these librarys but they refuse.
