string replace

I know to view edit file in unix, probably I just want to know how could I change/replace the same word or string on a file/s in a certain directory. I know their's a syntax for that, Please, I really appreciate it.

Do you just have access to inherent unix comands, or is perl installed on the machine? There quite a few ways to accomplish this.

I just using unix for it but i remember that within had perl too..other wise can you give just a few between the two you had said

You need to use sed, stream editor. Here's a link:
