How can I read a web page and display it's data in a MIDlet?

Posted 02 March 2011 - 10:13 AM

Hi again,

After having successfully got a resolution in my last question, I have another within the same development.

I was wondering if it is possible to read a web page's data or some of it (perhaps a specific image even), and then display that within a MIDlet, for example in an SVGsplash screen, SVGplayer or the like? (I am using Netbeans and SVG UI snippets).

What I would like to create is some form of 'updates page', that could display the latest news or deals from a site when it is started up. Let's say I have an SVG image on the site, which shows the 'deal of the day', would it be possible to read that image and show it within the MIDlet?

Could JSR 172 have any services or methods I need? Or are there any JavaME classes that define any methods or functionality to do such?

Many thanks,

NanoTech.

Take a look at the URL class. You can open an InputStream from the URL and read the data from it.

Hi again,

Thanks for the reply. I've been away from D.I.C for a while.

Do you have any advice on how I can make use of this class please? I've looked up the definition but wouldn't be too sure where to start!

You should read documentation: http://download.orac...ge-summary.html

I have another question if you don't mind.

My MIDlet doesn't seem to display full screen on my phone, is there a way to globally set the MIDlet to display full screen once opened on a device?
