Hey guys,
One of my instructors was encouraging our class to take the red hat sys. admin. cert. exam. I was wondering what you guys think of this.
I'm a computer info. systems student, working on a double concentration in programming, and security.
Anyone have this? Is it worth it?

knowing linux or any *nix is always pretty dang good to have under your belt. I wouldn't say the necessitates getting a certification for it, let alone specifically for Red Hat.

However, if you were going to get a cert in a specific Linux, I would pick Red Hat. As lod said, Linux experience is definitely good to have, especially if you're going to get into sysadmin stuff.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I do have a fair bit of linux experience already. I'm more comfortable with linux servers then windows servers.
I don't plan on doing sys admin stuff but you never know these days. If I can't find a programming job or security job anything could happen!
Cheers
