Firefox 4.0

Posted 23 March 2011 - 12:13 PM

For those who hadn't noticed. Firefox 4.0 is now the current stable release. This includes many new features including GUI overhaul, mobile support, and more.

You can dl your copy here: http://www.mozilla.c...-US/firefox/fx/

Whats everyone's thoughts? 3.6 v 4.0 ? i.e. 9 / chrome 10.0 / firefox 4.0? I'd like to see your thoughts oriented around ff4.0, and please save any flame wars for the Caffeine Lounge.

I am happy to see the tabs on top, something that chrome got right, right off the back. I look forward to seeing how all my addons will handle/look. I like the compactness of the top bar, however the first time i opened it up i thought I accidentally clicked on Opera >.< . It looks less clunky so its hopeful that it will be less clunky

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I've downloaded and installed it. Seems quick right now. Hopefully this will address the memory-eating issues I've seen.

It seems to be really fast! I love the overall upgrade. The GUI seems to be a lot cleaner!

I've been a fan of Opera for over a year now, but Firefox 4 is offering some slick competition. The new menu button is well implemented, and is much less cluttered than Opera's. Firefox Sync is also nice; I've been using Opera Link.

I still use Opera for most things, but Firefox has earned a place on my taskbar.

I love the GUI but I am using chrome now and I plan to for a long time. Firefox always has a long boot-up for me even without bookmarks and themes. >.>

For me, Firefox 4 seems a bit faster then the 3.6. Other then that, I can only notice that the use of F6 has vanished. On 3.6, I hit F6 and I would then mark the address bar where you type in the address on the page you wish to visit. Look at this picture if you are unsure what I mean.
Attached Image.

Overall, I think is a good progress of Firefox that has happened. :bananaman:

Sadly, I must use Windows at work. But the good news in that is that Firefox 4.0 is available.
I upgraded a while ago and I like it a lot.

But unfortunately the current version of Firefox in the repositories of Fedora 14 Linux is still v3.6.16.

Fedora 15 is supposed to come out in about a month, so we'll probably have to wait until then to get FF4.

I've used it for almost 3 weeks now and I have to say Chrome is still better. I gave it a fair shot.
