So far I like the Windows Phone the best! It has a simple design and interface and it is also easy to type on. The only thing I don't like about it is if you got the wireless on your router set to invisible then it doesn't give you an option to put in the information for the wireless. (If it does then I just haven't found it yet.)

I don't have a smartphone, and don't particularly want one. I wouldn't say no to a free iphone though.

Android definitely, open development, fast, easy to use, huge app base. you can do almost everything on an android. it might be a bit slow in comparison to a full computer but that's no harm. you can have a full web browser(with flash), you can program on it in Python(and a bunch of other languages but they don't work as well), and even play gameboy games ;)

There is an emulator app for jailbroken iphones/itouches.

But lets not get into an argument of this vs this. (which is going to happen anyways, I just don't want to have any part of it because I'm lazy)

You can also jailbreak (root) an android, but it's not like you need to.

obviously you may need to, otherwise people wouldn't do it.

i like android and iphone, but i'm a google whore, so i stick with android. pretty much communicate with everyone using the gtalk app, whether at the computer or on my phone.

I'd guess most people do it because they can, not because they need to.

The only reason I've found so far for rooting my Android phone is to get around the Market location restrictions. - Although, I'm not bothering. I can live without the Kindle app :)
... and with my luck I'd definitely brick it in the process.

well the market location restrictions are obviously the reason why you needed to do it.

I love my Android phone, although I do wish it had a better market, they keep improving it but the no restrictions aspect of it makes it impossible to find good things in the sea of terrible virus riddled copycat apps.

i really don't find it that hard to do. if your that worried about getting a virus on android then check out the app online first. if i am looking for an app to do something i Google it first then download what i want. easier to find good apps that way.

edit:
brilliant idea, make 'Anti-Virus' application for android that dose nothing. sell it for $1.00 and watch the money flow in :)

There are plenty of those already on the Market already.
Mostly they just sit around and drain power.

Easy to avoid though. Just look at the ratings and the comments. If an app is a dud, or full of malware (there aren't so much "viruses" as there is "malware"), then the ratings will pretty much always reflect that.

Yeah it's easy to look up whether it's a virus or not or whether it's good, but I don't want to have to go through tons of crap apps checking their credibility until I finally find a decent app, I only really download apps that people recommend now.
