My bidding site

Posted 26 March 2011 - 06:51 PM

Hi, this is a screenshot of my latest project, AuctionUK. Based on Ebay or any other bidding site.

The site is not live yet, so i can only give a screenshot.

How can you have "Popular Searches" if your site is not yet live o.o?

i have set up a demo database to test beta stages of the site. There are around 70~ listings and 20 accounts with page and reference data too. The functionality is 100% :)

I don't really like the red colour. But I do like the layout, and the idea.
Hope it goes well

Very neat and tidy structure. Not many negatives I can say other than the title 'AuctionUK' is a bit bland in design, but the rest of the page has a good amount of simplicity.

The search text box has a little bit difference in width compared to its combobox.(Make them equal)

Move icons on the header to the end of the second column with the red block also.

Put some links for maybe terms, about & Policy or FAQ at the bottom to the footer

@josh06

Thanks Josh, it was the base color i started off with, it would be too much hassle to change now. :)

@Sayid Ahmed

Thank you, i am struggling to find a name for the site. Maybe you could give me some suggestions as i have been trying to decide a name for a while now. :/

@smohd

Thanks for the suggestions, i agree with all of them and they have been resolved. :)

name: United Auction, UA of the UK, English channel traders, Irish Sea Traders

Your pictures don't show the log out link.
Don't put the log out link under a drop down menu? I hate how web sites do that.

Looks very good! Although I agree with josh06 the red isn't the best choice in this case. Why? The whole site looks clean, simple and small. And then the red just comes screaming in.

About the name, while I don't have a concrete idea, don't use UK in the title because maybe you'll want to expand to .com later. The .co.uk makes it clear enough the site is meant for the UK. That would be my advise too, if you register your domain, get the .com and maybe some more as well. Domain parking is cheap anyway.

Looks nice but as you have heard, the red lol... Would this site offer shipping to the U.S.? Good idea and very nice concept but with sites that already have a market foothold you need to distinguish your site from theirs in a better way I find myself thinking... Very well done though...

Is the auction uk logo in jpeg format? If so text based images should never be saved as Jpeg because they can become slightly pixelated. Try saving it as a png or gif.

@Renagado

Thanks, im trying to figure out a different colour instead of the red but im not too sure. Do you have any ideas?

@l3v3r.l0ck

Thank you, if all goes well i will start shipping to different countries, its just gettin it started.

@D.Mulroy

Yes the image is a PNG format, but the image provided is a JPG so that is probably the cause :P
