Why do you need a dvd? You can mount .iso file directly from OS: right click on the file and the first option is mount.

I don't need a DVD for that. I was just hoping not to have to waste almost 4 gigs of bandwidth just to get the developer tools.

By the way, anybody know how to get the Visual Studio stuff for building metra apps, without downloading the 4.8GB ISO? It won't fit on a 4.7GB DVD, which is all I have, and I'd rather not waste the bandwidth if I can help it. I Googled (or rather "Bing'ed" it) but couldn't locate it anywhere.

Good news: They do have a downloadable of just Visual Studio 11 developer preview
Bad news: It's currently only available to MSDN subscribers
If you got a MSDN subscription, just follow the link at http://www.microsoft...isual-studio-11 under Early Access for MSDN Subscribers

Has anyone tried installing via flash drive? I've tried it and I'm having problems. I just want to see if it's just me or if other people are having trouble as well.

I feel so privileged - I took a picture of myself using Windows 8 (Dev preview) on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5. I love having a dad who works in IT.
Anyway, after using it, I have to say that I'm not impressed. The Metro UI is trash. Before trying it, I was excited about the new window UI style - the blue, non-translucent border with sleek, 2D buttons. After using the system for about ten minutes, the new style gets old. It's really Windows 7 with a new(ish) face and a very poorly integrated tablet UI.
I was just beginning to like Windows, but this really makes me think about using a Mac in the future. I like Microsoft, and I think their decision of moving into the tablet world was a good one, but I believe they could outshine Mac OS if they really focused on making a fantastic version of Windows. A half-tablet and half-desktop design isn't really appealing to me.
