Marked as Answer/Auto Rep up?

Posted 01 April 2011 - 06:32 AM

Sometimes when you post a reply to a thread, the OP forgets to rep you up (if its good, or rep you down if its bad). I find this very annoying. Maybe in the next update, other forum members can mark what is the best answer and the forum would automatically add +5 to your rep?

A good example of this is -> http://www.dreaminco...vb-programmers/

I am the only who replied (maybe because I gave a good enough answer or no one else cared to do it).

I don't think allowing other forum members to say what was the correct answer is a good idea. How do they know if it was the best answer for the OP? Only the OP would know that.

Maybe the original poster could mark it as the best answer. Then they get the automatic rep. I like the idea I'm just not sure what the DIC team think about it.

But that still doesn't fix the issue that you posted about. You posted because you were the only one that posted in that thread, you gave a great answer, but didn't get any rep.

If the OP doesn't rep your post now, they aren't going to mark it as the correct answer. It's not that they "forgot". They either don't care or don't want to.

Some people don't care about giving rep.

Maybe there can be some sort of notification about a reply in the last (and marking an answer) if the OP is about to ask another question.

EDIT:

Thank you, *cough*. Yes, something like stackoverflow.

The other thing I'd like to add is that an answer marked "correct" at one point would diminish a possibly better answer that comes along later. We're not like StackOverflow in that we're concerned with answers only. We want to encourage discussion in threads, and the rep points associated with a post will indicate the quality of the answer. :)
