A work in progress

Posted 04 April 2011 - 02:52 AM

I've been throwing out some new designs for my personal website. I want it to look like the old console softwares in the days when that's all you had. Also, I read that black and green (though surprisingly harsh at first) tires the eyes less than any other color scheme :D

I'm aware of that. I've only just put the template together, so I have yet to clean it up.

There's not really enough up yet to call it a template or even a site. No offense but until you have some content up I can't really give a solid opinion, all it is is green text on black. Welcome to the Matrix I suppose.

I haven't added any content on purpose :)

And the green on black was on purpose, good colors imo

I think it's a good concept. I'd definitely add some cushion between your nav and content. Maybe 20px or so. The border-bottom seems too long, and butts up next to the content. I think that'd be my only complaint.

I liked your site and spent 5 minutes helping you develop it.
why would you give me negative rep?

Negative rep stands for something that isn't helpful. When something is in the site review section people are asking for reviews on the site, not code fixes. By "fixing" their code and reposting it in a review, you have to consider how bad that looks. It comes off as patronizing in most cases and is not constructive.

Constructive would involve telling them what aspects need fixing, we're not here to spoonfeed anything and do work. The goal of critique is to help the creator come to the correct conclusion of their own power, not give them one.

If this were to be posted in the HTML/CSS section then that action would be warranted if explicitly requested.

We'll continue this via PM, but if you honestly can't understand where I'm coming from then stop posting and filling topics with your trolling....

Gentlemen, please settle down. This is not the place for arguing.lemonchicken, if you wish to give advice on Site Feedback, tell him some information like "Maybe you should try using div's to help you better structure your code". But realize that that is more coding than designing. The reason you received negative reputation is because you didn't give feedback, and it seemed like you wee just trolling.

The rest of you all, please try to accept that it was feedback and move on. This is not helping the topic out at all.
