adding pictures to JFrames

hi there. I am having difficulty adding pictures to a JFrame. My code doesnt give me any errors but it doesnt display the pictures anyway. I think I may be specifying the path incorrectly. please help

JFrame is a complex component and MUCH more goes on than meets the eye. If you want to make it simple, place the image on an ImageIcon OR paint it on a JPanel and add the JPanel to the JFrame. I have a tutorial on this:
