What do you use to write HTML and/or CSS?

Posted 06 April 2011 - 01:54 AM

As the title states, what program, IDE or not, do you use to write your web sites in?

Notepad++?
Dreamweaver?
Notepad? (hehehe)

etc...

Personally, I use Komodo Edit 6 by ActiveState :) It's amazing. I'm thinking of buying Komodo IDE 6 eventually, but not right now. :)

I use Notepad++, but when I have an assignment or client that prefers it, I use Dreamweaver.

I started with Notepad making my pages, but then I realized there are better variants (Notepad++)

I've never used Komodo, Frontpage, or Komposer (or the other millions of IDEs out there).

I usually use Netbeans, as it's what I develop my PHP code in. I sometimes use Aptana as well when I'm doing purely client-side stuff. (Which is rare, to be honest)

I happily left Dreamweaver behind ages ago. The WYSIWYG editor is handy, but in my experience it takes longer to fix the code it generates so it can be used properly than it takes to write by hand. The code view isn't bad though, but really not worth the price tag. There are other, free, programs that are just as good.

I tried Komodo for a while. Very fast, but I didn't like the feel of it. (But that's just me :P)

Gedit (Linux) or Notepad++ (Windows) when I don't feel like firing up the IDE.

Aptana, part of the infinitely extensible eclipse project. Really useful piece, free as well. Notepad++ for quick pieces.

I use Vim or Notepad++ depending on my mood. Of course, notepad is perfectly fine if thats all you have.

VIM has one heck of a learning curve and if you're not a *nix lover don't bother. It is definitely a solid editor but it was originally intended to be run from command line on servers so it works best with only keyboard input.

Dreamweaver* for me.

Yes I know it's a bit bloated but I don't notice any sluggishness on a quad core Phenom.

I really like the site managing tools it has and the ability to quickly preview my HTML and CSS in the Wizzy before I check it in the browser.

* I only use Code view as I find it to be a good text editor.

gedit. I got used to using it when I was running Ubuntu and it was the first thing I missed when I went back to Windows. I use it for HTML/CSS/PHP, Java, Python, and pretty much anything else; it recognizes just about everything.
