Form, Submit, email question

Post icon  Posted 05 January 2007 - 12:51 AM

Hi!

Im doing a web site right now, and I got stuck :(

Its all about the quick contact form, i need to make working.

the work in progres site is on plumts.com/preview/hizna , the contact form is on the right.

I have a couple direct questions:

1. How do I make text disappear when i click to fill out an email or text field, and if the field is not filled to go back to showing text again?

2. How do I force the form to send an email with data filled in form?

3. I want to show a page after sending data from site. Something like this. When form i submitted (click on send), I show a page Thank You bla bla bla..., you are about to be redirected to the previous page in 5 seconds.
How do I pull the next page and redirection of? Do you have any idea?

Thanks for any help provided.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

1. Can you elaborate here? The way I read this, if someone tries to fill out a field, you want it to disapear - not sure how they can then fill it out. Also, do you need it to actually disapear, or will simply graying it out suffice?

2. The method used will depend on the scripting language you are using.

3. there are avariety of ways to accomplish this - after the form has been submitted, you can send the user to another page by have that page be listed in the form action attribute, and having a met refresh on that second page that will redirect them to another. You can also accomplish this with scripting (the method will depend on what scripting language you are using).

So....what scripting language are you using?

1. Now when I read what I wrote it sounds silly. Here is an explanation.

Now I have completed my beta layout of the page ( plumts.com/preview/hizna/ ) so you can see what is it all about.

In the Quick Contact field, for entering an email, stands some text, when I click on it I want that text to disappear and leave the field blank so I can type in my email.
Here is an simple example what I want to achieve.

2. I got it filed, I'm doing it trough php.

3. I'm using XHTML 1.0 Strict (page is valid) and CSS2, and just a bit of php (just for mail). B)

Okay the thing that you still have a question on (the onlcick stuff) can be done with javascript.

Try something like so:

<input type="text" name="search" value="Google" onclick="this.value=''" onblur="if(this.value==''){this.value='Google'}">
