Personally I find Apple's phone hardware second to none. It's fantastic and has a very professional finish. Much better than the majority of crappy Android chinese knockoffs. I'm basing this on what I see in Bolivia BTW.

I have to give apple props for the iPhone 1. All subsequent iPhones have been less innovative- just 'look, smaller sexier re-hash of the same iPhone! ooh, now with an extra gb of memory! only twice the price!', over and over again. This is without considering the multi-touch deal- where Apple sued motorola for selling a phone that used a similar gesture.

That's it: The fan boys are annoying, but that's all I can say for or against them, the company produces some solid offerings, but the guys in charge of deciding what the company is going to do seem to be douchebags, and Steve Jobs in particular is the biggest douche the human race has yet produced.

And didn't they start charging for updating your ipod? That's completely ridiculous. If I buy a game, I expect to get all of the patches for free. It's like I intentionally create a bug in my software, then moments after the release say "this bug has been patched, but it will cost you $5. Oh but you get this nifty little calculator that comes with it too".


IMO Mac can longer be called "for graphics only" and PC can no longer be called "for games only".

But, you aren't allowed to install it on anything other than Apple Hardware, so suddenly, that $20 is suddenly $1520....Windows has freedom of choice. However, Apple mobile devices ARE very successful and Jobs did a wonderful job taking old, failed ideas and reviving them into something great. Mind you, I'm an Apple hater because of business choices that they made, BUT Apple does have its merits.

That's one of the examples of "Bad business practices". They don't give me enough freedom to use their product how I want to use it.

Also, from what I've heard, they make their hardware in house, thus bumping the prices up and added their own little tweaks, It's almost as if they program their shit to break exactly when the warranty is up you can go replace it with another overpriced piece of junk at no extra cost to them. At least with a PC if the parts aren't to your liking you can open it up and install something new in there. And wtf is up with the iPad 2? From what I've seen it's only a regular iPad with a camera. Why not just simply release a line of iPads with cameras for an extra $50 instead of making a huge deal out of rereleasing a new line with an extra $200 tacked on? They're like the same camera's they've used on cell phones, and the integration software is already there, so it's not like they're doing some R&D to discover some new technology, because it's shit they've already had just laying around. They're just using the fanboys and adding hype to something, and hoping people out of sheer brand loyalty will help them hype it up, and let them see past the fact they're getting ripped off.

a.) I update my iPod with GTKPod on Linux. They don't make an iTunes port for Linux
b.) Check out Rock Box. I have a few friends that swear by this. iPod + drag & drop

I've used rockbox before on my old Sansa Fuze2. It's pretty nice. I would definitely recommend it.

the only thing I have is a iPod nano that i got about 2 years ago.

I'm not a fan of Apple just because the products are insanely expensive for what I get back for it. $500 for a damn iPad? hell no.

Maybe Apple going a bit more Microsoft isn't a bad thing?
