Professional Opinion?

I'd like everyone's professional opinion on the simple logo shown below. I made it in GIMP. I'm kind of short on ideas for the club logo. I know that everyone wants the font shown below but no one had any ideas on what they logo should be like so I just mixed the school logo with the club name.

That font and they style of your schools logo don't look good together in my opinion.
Do you have to use that font?

Yes, the school's logo is copyrighted. Plus I just made the Digital Media Club part and pulled the logo in from another image. I didn't actually make their logo.

Haha, I meant the font that you chose, not your school's logo font. The two don't mix well imo

I know what you mean. I don't have to have the school logo on their. I just thought it made sense to do that. Of course I'm still new to graphic design so I'm not the best at pitching ideas for things like this.

Keep the school logo, change the other. The school logo is superb design work (as far as school logos, in the style, go).
Next, notice the shapes in the school logo. You have circular patterns and an Old English style font. Play with those and work out something that suits the tradition of your school's logo AND fits a modern aesthetic.
Also, I'd utilize a matching color scheme. You can also play on that and rock complementary colors to add some contrast.

The fonts match up and it looks a lot better than before with the digital clock text. What are you making here again. You kept the theme going as far as color and text matching.

At my college, I helped start a campus organization called the Digital Media Club.
So now I am making a logo for the club that we can show off and so that people will know that it was the Digital Media Club that made the video.

I wouldn't go with the acronym...DMC reminds me of the demilitarized zone or Run DMC. You need to make the text more dynamic, and somehow incorporate the school logo into the graphic more, besides having it sit there.
