HashChange Script to Work

Posted 21 April 2011 - 07:21 AM

Hi, I need some help. I have embedded a hashChange script into my page and read the documentation. I have some custom code I don't know how to get this script to work. (Page link) :)

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Post your custom code ( only where you're trying to implement this plugin ), the errors you're getting and what you're trying to accomplish.

I'm not getting any errors.

The hashChange from what I've been told and read is suppose to cause an HTML page to load within a nested ID as the page consists of a series of nested ID's within one page. The other purpose is to cause a direct link to the page, the email form is suppose to load a 'message sent' HTML upon sending the message instead it loads another separate HTML page instead of loading the HTML with the ID#Contact.

You are going to need to provide a little more specific detail as to where hashchange is actually being called in your code. I see the inclusion of hashchange script, but where is it actually being called ?

The problem is that you don't understand some very basic concepts needed to accomplish this task. Undoubtedly, someone could tell you what to do line by line, but I am going to suggest that you learn about Javascript and Javascript DOM and how that can be applied to do what you want to do.

Your question is of the nature of asking someone to code the solution for you.

When you are saying - "I don't know how to call it" then there is a need for you to learn a bit more about Javascript before attempting this kind of task.

This question should really be "how do I call a javascript function from my HTML code?".

Here is a link to an introduction to javascript :

Javascript Basics

It will answer this question as well as many other questions that would result from continuing on with this thread as it currently is heading. If you take the time to read it, I guarantee you will learn more in the time it takes to read it, than what you would learn in several days taking the current approach.

I know the fundamentals of how Javascript works as you can see their is working Javascript code within my page. This particular script I don't know how to call this script from within the HTML code, and I wanted to verify what it's general purpose is to be sure it can do, what I was informed about it. I know that placing it within script tags won't make it work, what is needed to make it work, I'm on a tight deadline and even though I'm far from a Javascript guru, yet. I was hoping I could get the help to get this script working, without the run of the mill.

I'm confused as to why you won't go about learning how to call a javascript function from HTML. That link has that and so much more that can help you.

I would consider calling a function from HTML quite fundamental! :)

I agree, and I have light understanding of functions but in regards to this script in getting the HTML to load within an ID. I could spend the time to understand and odds are I will learn or remember what I had learned in the past but I will still be confused how to get it to work.
