What is the best programming language to create wireless games?

Posted 27 April 2011 - 09:09 PM

Hi all,
I want to ask your opinion. I am sorry if I am in the wrong forum.

I am a student and currently working on my final project.
I decided to create a game application (not mobile) and using wireless.
The idea is, this game is a multiple player game. In order to do multiple player, each laptop would be connected to the other using wireless.

I am a newbie in programming.

So, what I want to know now is. Which programming language that fit to create this game, and not too difficult to implement, because I am going to learn from the start.

Thank you for your time and reply.

Good day.

Moved to Software Development.

Most high level languages don't force the programmer to know how the computers are connected (ethernet, wi-fi, bluetooth, etc.), only that they are. Whichever language you choose, take a look at the networking and sockets tools. You initially posted this in C#, which is a fine language to tackle this in. As are many others including Java, VB.NET, and C++.

Also, if you have no or minimal prior programming experience, you're really biting off probably too much. I don't mean to be rude, but this is a lot for someone with significant programming experience. Game programming by itself is not easy, nor is networking programming. You might want to consider something a little easier.

"Final year project"... and then "I am a newbie in programming".

Where are these people coming from?

@darek9576, we've all asked the same question.

Well, maybe I will create something else. Still a game, but maybe using Flash.

Thank you for the reply and suggestion.

I mean my final project in one of my class. I'm told to make an application.

I'm not really sure if it's the "best" language or not but you can try using it with XNA to write games. There are several tutorials in the Game Programming section already and a tonne of them on the web. A bit of Googling will work wonders for you.

You can even download the XNA studio which comes prepacked with visual C# and the SDK. Good luck :)
