Hi all,

I am trying to create a game application using Flash.
The idea is, this game is a multiple player game (can be more than 2 player), play this game together.
In order to play it together, using wireless signal.

My question is, is there any Flash script that can do it straight away?
Or there is some other way to do it?

Yes, you can make multiplayer games with flash. Commonly a socket server is used -- something like SmartFox or Electroserver.

In terms of using a wireless signal, not entirely sure what you mean. If someone has an internet connection, whether it's wired or wireless, they can play an online game.

Do you have any programming experience ? I wouldn't say that multiplayer games are something you are going to do "straight away", without learning quite a bit about how to do so.

By wireless I mean, WiFi.. Its not actually an online game.. I mean, like connect each laptop using server.. Meaning, one laptop contains a server then the other laptop can just connect to the main server. Then start..

Not that "straight away" , meaning, the easier way to understand and implement. Because, I had very few programming experience. And in flash, almost nothing, just created few simple animated movies.

Its WiFi.. But, not online, because the connection in my Internet kinda not stable. So I'm afraid when I do the presentation, the games wont work..

I'm going to be honest and say, it's doable, but you are not capable of this kind of thing yet.

You need to learn how to program and quite a bit more about game development. Your concept of "straight away", truly does not exist in the case of what you are asking.

Your options -- learn to program or pay someone to make this game for you.

First option will take some time, second option will take some money.

What if I only make it flash multiplayer game. Without the connection through WiFi..
Is it still doable for me?

I think I will take the first option, because, my teacher gonna ask me about all the details, if I pay someone to make it, then, I am doomed.

What language were you "supposed" to be learning that you are now unable to make the game your teacher is requesting ?

That is a question that can only be answered by you.

I had no idea this was a school project. What is the class you are taking ? It sounds like the teacher expects that you know about multiplayer gaming. Apparently, you are not prepared.

Its Computer Graphics and Animation..
In this class mostly learning about Flash and Photoshop..
As the final project of this class, we are all given a task to create games using Flash..
And yes, the teacher expect us to create a multiplayer game, since she thought if its only a single player game, it would be too "easy"..

The deadline is 2-3 month from now..

Is the class about programming in AS3 ? I think it's quite a big request if this is an graphics/animation oriented class. If I was a graphics/animation student, I'm not sure I'd want my grade based on my ability to program.

I would agree with Prototypical. The graphics part is just a small part of a project like this. The main focus would have to be on the code. - Makes little sense as a project for a class focused on Graphics and Animation.

Even the "Game programming" course I'm currently taking, who's focus is Actionscript 3, is far less demanding.

The thing is..
The teacher wants us to dig deeper about Action Script in Flash.
We given 2 tasks actually, for the mid project, we're given a task to create a Flash movie.
And for final, is Game.

So, what can I make ya? I mean a multiplayer game that I can make.
I mean, like I said before, I am completely new in Action Script in Flash.

Oh yea, is Action Script in Flash is the same as Java language?

I think your feedback has been extremely clear.

You need to learn how to program if you want to make this happen. You've got alot of work to do, so you better get started now. Go to the library or book store, grab a few books on AS3, and game development. Google is your friend.

This thread is not going to help you get done what you need to get done. There's no genie in this bottle.

What's the different between AS 1, 2 and 3?

And um.. Do you have any idea in what kind of multiple games I should make?
I could use some help in this part.
