I have been using VB6 for many years with no problems at all. Now, a few weeks ago, when I wanted to use the said control for the first time in about a year, I could not access the events of the ado data control. When I double click on the control it gives an error message: "User defined type not defined." Otherwise the ado data control works fine. I just cannot use the events.
This problem may, or may not have started with the installation of .NET 4
There are no viruses on my computer
I tried to re-install (repair) from my CD
I tried to uninstall and a fresh install From my CD
I downloaded a fresh copy of VB6 from Microsoft.com and did a fresh install
All in vain
I suspect an corrupt windows system file, but I simply cannot reinstall Windows now.
I use Windows XP Professional and VB6 SP6. I also have Access 2003 installed
Can somebody help?

So, you're saying that you are able to create a design time instance of the control on a form, by double clicking on it in the toolbox, but then when you double click on the instance itself, you get the error you describe rather than going into the code window with the default event handler?
