Yesterday around 1:30, we reached 500,000 members. What an awesome milestone! Larger than many big cities. Even some small countries.

I had planned on having a contest ready to go today, but some things with friends and family have kept me busy over the weekend and today, but I'll show you a little preview of what's to come:



As soon as I have some time, we'll get this launched. I would suggest starting to think about some unique places you dream in code and a fun/creative way of showing it (photo contest including some specific text). We're also celebrating our 10 year anniversary (Which was actually in February, but all year is our anniversary, so we're going to combine 500k + 10 Year). We'll be giving away $500 AND an iPad2/Samsung Galaxy Tab/Windows Tablet. To get a jump on this, start looking at tutorial ideas for mobile (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7), and cloud (Amazon EC2, various APIs, Google Apps, etc.).

We'll be giving away some additional smaller prizes as well including various toys/gadgets and fun items.

I'll have the official contest launched by next week *fingers crossed*.

So... *CHEERS* to half a million developers, and 10 years of helping people learn to be better developers.

It may have taken 10 years for 500 THOUSAND members... but notice 400 thousand of them (including me ) joined in the last 3 years?
