Hi there everyone, I have been a VB6 programmer for a little while, in and out, and some thing i have forgotten and some i have not, I recently installed Visual Studio 2010 and was wondering if anyone could gimme a heads up on the closest programing language that I would be familiar with, within VS 2010. Anyways, thanks for the heads up.
Oh yeah, I have also written a program in VB6 and want to convert it to Visual Studio (Code) what is the beest way around this?

VB's syntax is very different from C#, C++ ... Etc. On the flip side the programming concepts(loops, functions, object oriented programming) you've learned can be transferred to many other languages. I'd recommend taking a swing at C#. The syntax is very easy and it's a very powerful language.

Well, if you are familiar with VB6 syntax, then VB.Net would be the logical choice. However, don't expect the two languages to be identical. Much was changed between VB6 and VB.Net.

I agree with eclipsed. After programming with VB6.0, I found it easier to shift to VB.NET than in C#.NET. I am programming with C# right now and I say its a lot different frpm VB. It can be more compared to languages like C and Java.
