I will be taking javascript in the Fall and I wanted to get a book for the summer ahead of time to study besides the required book for the class. I'll be going to Books A Million. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Head First Javascript is a pretty good intro to Javascript and also covers basic programming principles. Like all the books in the Head First series it takes a unique approach to teaching and can be a fun, informative read with lots of exercises to apply what you learn.

Thank you both for your posts. I could not wait any longer last night so I went and picked a book after looking through the small selection they had and I thought Head First would be a good book to prep with before taking the class which would have a more serious approach but I will definitely still look into the others as well. Why limit myself to just one if there is time!

There are many e-books you can download off the internet for free, if you don't mind reading an electronic copy of the book. PDFCHM has a vast resource of Information Technology e-books ranging from Javascript to whatever else technology-related you can think of. If you sign up with the site, you'll be able to download the books free. If I really like the e-book I usually buy a hard copy too.

The good thing about having an e-book when you're doing development work is you can do a quick search by word for terms you are trying to find, great especially when the book doesn't have a glossary.
