I'd have to agree with Ace26. I don't do it all of the time but in the summer I always get my coding done early so I can have fun and go outside. But in the winter and ALWAYS on winter vacation, I do late night coding so I can sleep in a lot

Not a specific time of day, but typically after I've had a good time out with friends, or in the morning after a good sleep.

This fluctuates of course but lately I have been writing my best stuff and being most productive from 1 to 3 am.
I'm just writing a hobby project for android though.

Honestly, I write code best at any time of the day, provided I get no distractions for 15 minutes, and it's a nice quiet environment. When I'm at home alone through the day, code flows from my fingers.
That said, I do work great under pressure though. If I only have a week to code something substantial, you can bet I'll get it done with a day or two to spare, and it will be pretty good (as in, as good as if I'd had two-three weeks to do it and took my time).

Night time. Generally I get into gear between 10 and midnight, and go until 2 or 4. When I write code for work, I can crank it out in the office, but for things that I'm working on - usually stuff that I don't know how to do yet, I need no distractions, and that's late at night.
The best ways around, over, and between always seem to occur to me when I get up from the computer after a good two or three hours' work and go downstairs for a bit of fresh air. Five minutes away from the machine, and I know what I need to try next.

I have this friend who if you stick us in a room together we'll jump right into work and just get consumed in it. We don't share the same skill set (I'm math, he's art), it's just we for some reason silently push each other to work hard.
Sometimes music can also put me into a nice groove. I've disapeared for 20 and 30 hours due to some discography of music I just got from some artists I had previously never heard of. I'm always on the hunt for new artists solely for this purpose.

I'm making good progress with my project when I come back from walking the dogs ( yes in that outside place ) maybe it is the fresh air? Or the light from this planets yellow sun. . .

8-12 am. If I start at 8, I get a day's work done before lunch time. Start at 9 and I can never get my productivity up to the same level.

I work best late at night (or early in the morning if that's how you want to look at it). Normally from about 11 to 4 in the morning. It always seems like those key times where you have all of those "Ah HA!" moments, fixing something that has been avoiding you for days.

I enjoy coding in the early and late hours of the day. Either way I put on a pot of coffee, some music and get at it. If I wake up early enough, and have time, coding in the morning is great. Late night coding is always the best though. Nothing like winding down after a long day with a little code and a cup of fresh brewed coffee.

I code best from about midnight (after Family Guy has gone off) to 2am and while listening to music. My very best work comes when I'm the only one in the house and can play Pandora through my radio speakers.
