The winner of the last design competition was modi123_1 and he has come up with a great brief for the latest competition:

With the middle of 2011 upon us we've seen some pretty interesting things. Extreme weather (flooding, tsunamis), the Arab Spring, Voyager I and II hitting entering the heliosheath, 3d tvs, a tanking global economy, and so on.

What I am looking for is picture of future predictions, breakthroughs, or significant milestones for the world; be it one or many breakthroughs or events.

Let your creativity run loose. The winning image will be featured on a full splash page of our magazine. We bill ourselves as a monthly full colored magazine that focuses on tech trends intersecting with culture, politics, and economics.

I believe everyone has a niche talent so the medium you choose is up to you. Digital painting, photography, collage, vector design, 3d rendering, or what you deem suitable. I would also like a text statement that ties in with your image to be incorporated. Quotes are fine as long as the author is attributed.

The time line for these predictions should be anywhere between August 2011 and August 2012.

While the topic seems open don't overwhelm the image. Do some research, hound some trends, and make the image pop.

Yup I wanted to get a handle on what folks are good at. I might faux enter with either an actual shoe box diorama (and some photoshop touchups), or a digital one in Blender. Hahaha.. I wonder how much construction paper I have.

I've been out of computer contact for three days, and figured there would be more people checking in affirming they are on the hunt for the design. Is anyone going to attempt this?

I am going to attempt it I will do some photoshop work probably.

I really wish there was more interest in these competitions.

Not that my entries ever get noted...

I can't think of anything. I'm still waiting for flying cars and teleporters to be invented. Our progress is so slow that The future for next year looks like:

A new apple ipad

and cell phones that run on G7 networks

.....our futures suck

Sure.. it could be tech - how about politics? The environment? Science?

Well the next year does not seem to have many political advantages... how many wars are we fighting at the moment? 3? 4? The only thing going well at the moment seems to be the data they got from Bin Laden's computer!

Science and technology however is going well. I think my peice will be a photomanip depicting anti-matter and graphene. Not that it will be particularly accurate haha.
