Any Canucks Fans - NHL

The Canucks are up against Boston in the Stanley Cup Finals, so who here is rooting for them.

I wanna hear outlooks on the future, favorite players, and favorite moments.

I'm still rooting for the Pens. I refuse to accept that they didn't make it this year. :cry2:

Honestly, they're my second favorite.I'd be close to conflicted if they had to go against Vancouver.

My Bolts beat yer Pens...but were eventually hustled out of the Cup contention by the powers that be as nobody wanted to endure a Tampa Bay/Vancouver Stanley Cup.

I normally don't have much time for conspiracy theories but what the league did to the Lightning for Game 7 makes me wonder whether the NHL will one day be mentioned in the same breath as the WWE.

For that reason, yes, I'd very much like to see the Canucks win (and in 5 games if only so they win it on home ice) as I can't stand to see someone gain from unfair play.

Canucks in 4 unless they intentionally throw a game to win it at home in 5.

I refuse to support teams with racist names or mascots. Canuks, Red Skins, Braves, Fighting Whites, and so forth. Oh and the Red Sox. Screw them too.

Do you realise that "yankees" is more-or-less a racist term towards Americans, right?

Sometimes I see that too, the amount of calls the refs "miss" is a bit weird to me.

Yankees were the Northerners during the Civil War.

If you believe what they force feed the high school kids, the Yankees fought for all that was right and good with the world - to end slavery and to unite the country and to live happily ever after.

It's still sometimes used to refer to those of us who dwell above the Mason-Dixon Line.

Has it occured to you that perhaps our humor-o-meters are perfectly calibrated and you just weren't funny?

No, you never see that.

I've been watching hockey for a little over 30 years. You know how many penalties were called in Game 7 of the ECF after Tampa Bay's power play scored three goals in Game 6 and were humming along at around 25% while Boston was doing less than 7%?

Zero.

Know when the last time an NHL playoff game went off without a single penalty call? More than 20 years ago. Throw in the additional fun fact that Colin Campbell, the guy already documented for reaming officials who dared to call penalties against his kid Greg Campbell (of the Bruins, gee, imagine that), resigns...not at the end of the season when you'd expect a management change but after the first no penalty game in 2 decades...one which his kid's team directly benefited from and you have a very ugly scenario possibly.

Special teams are part of the game and while Tampa Bay brought one to the series, Boston did not. The third most penalized team in the playoffs, who had given up 5 goals on the penalty kill in the ECF through 6 games to Tampa Bay magically gets one of the rarest friggin' feats in all of hockey: a penalty free game that they manage to win 1-0 after beating the Lightning near senseless as though they knew they didn't risk box time for doing so. 9, 10, and 10 penalties between the two teams in the three games preceding turns into 0 penalties in a game the Bruins had to have to advance because they'd squandered a lead in game 6 to...three straight Tampa Bay power play goals.

So yeah, I'd like to see Vancouver win. Mind you, I don't think Tampa Bay would have beaten Vancouver in a Cup Final...but I'd have really liked to have seen them get a fair shot. They'd have put up a lot more fight than Boston is doing.

You have a good point, Craig, but yesterday Boston beat Vancouver 8-1 (Not saying that makes me happy though...)

To everyone else, I think Vancouver needs to give Luongo a break while they're still ahead of the game, the last thing I want to see is a game seven in Boston. Should he be given the bench before it's too late yet again?
