I've been hearing for the last few years how crappy the job market is because of the recession. Maybe it's because of the area in which I live or my particular skill set, but other than the usual seasonal lulls I have not noticed any shortage. Now I have seen dips in other sectors, most notably financial, manufacturing, and real estate, but I'm talking about software development jobs. I hear people complaining about it, but just can't corroborate. What's your experience where you live?

There seem to be a lot of jobs available around my area. Seem to be focused mainly in C# and Java, with a smattering of PHP Web Dev jobs, which seems to be where I'm heading.

Columbus tech market is booming.
When I left my old job in January, the market was ripe for Web Developers. ColdFusion, PHP, FrontEnd HTML/CSS developers.
However there is no shortage in demand for Java EE and JSP Developers either. Seems to be a rise in demand for Objective-c, C#, SA's and DBA's as well.
I actually know someone who moved here from Chicago for opportunities and one person trying to move here from Oregon.

Things are looking pretty good in the Tampa market. I receive many opportunities on a job board every week. According to this USA Today article, things are looking good all around the country.

I've always had a steady flow of job offers, & am actively pursuing something... the business is about to go into auto pilot.

I'd be interested to read B9's response to this seeing as I live in PA, but in York .Net development seems to be the big thing. I've only noticed this via a IT internship I have though.
