So it has been a long time since i set up WAMP. All I have done is go to privileges in phpmyadmin and create a localhost password. I tried going to the config file and creating a password for root but I got the 1045 error and it's slipped my mind on how to fix that. So i changed the root password back to nothing. In the /www/ folder i made a folder names test123 and put an index.php file in it. In the php file I have..

<?php
echo "Hi";
?>

When I run that in the browser what prints on the screen is exactly that..

<?php
echo "Hi";
?>

any help? and if anyone could help me with that 1045 error too I would appreciate it.

Are you setting WAMP up manually? I've got a tutorial that I wrote on the subject on my site... it's probably out of date, but may help you figure out the problem. Chances are the problem is the changes to Apache's ini files.

Make sure you bounce the Apache service after making any changes. It only reads the values on startup.

Never really tried wamp. I use Xampp. Maybe that will work for you.

I got the php fixed. apparently I needed to make the server online. I swear all i had to do before was click start all services though. Anyone who can jump in to help with the 1045 error feel free though lol

I ran across that thread while searching before I came here. That's what I did and when I go to phpmyadmin there is no login screen just the 1045 error

is different from

http://localhost/some/other/path

Yeah, what exactly are you typing into the browser's address bar to get to the page you're trying to access?

http://localhost/phpmyadmin/

brings me the 1045 when I go to the config file and change the root password. As long as the root password is empty phpmyadmin works fine.
