Hello everyone, I thought I would share this link as I don;t believe I have seen it elsewhere other than on facebook of all places. The Microsoft download site has a specialised plugin / download bundle that integrates the WordPress CMS, so that it can be used to create sites offline:

Install WordPress for Windows.

It detects what you do and do not have installed, and then downloads everything you need to get started using the WordPress CMS as an offline web site developement tool, and integrates with web matrix tools such as automatic updates for the wordPress plugin and web deploy, as well as other web matrix tools and plugins being readily available.

I have considered using wordpress but did not want to shell out for a compatible host, and did not have the technical knowledge to make it work offline, now it has been done for me, I hope this link helps a few aspiring WP developers out there

Yup - it's part of their Web Matrix platform. Like LAMP or XAMPP... it also does Drupal.
