Didn't even know such a survey was going on by A List Apart. But it's interesting to see certain stats especially the one on gender. Fewer female exist in this professional surprisingly, in this age of gender equality movements and women liberation.

I think that’s related to education. in western countries (which dominate the survey) technical hobbies have been solely approved for males (think back to the pre-WW II era, where our (grand) parents have been brought up)

Ahh yes, I remember filling this out. I found the years at current job(Fig. xvii) and next career move(Fig. xix) results interesting. "Less than a year" for the former was the top response and "New job in a new organization" was the top response for the latter. Reflects how often people move around in this field and, most likely, the rate at which new people are joining.

I just think women everywhere are naturally hard-wired with an aversion towards the technology related fields. But then there a exceptions to the rule as this survey suggests.
