How to interface with contacts and text messages?

Posted 24 June 2011 - 11:16 PM

Hello all,

I'm an experience java programmer, but am just getting into android. I'm working on a simple app that will interface with the text message application, and "contacts" (I want to add an option under each contact that they can click that is related to the app).

Then, if they try to text message (maybe call?) one of the people they've selected from contacts it would display a message.

I've been playing around with the SDK and haven't had any problems so far. However, I'm wondering about how to "interface" with text messages and contacts.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You can look into the ContactsContract class. It should offer you most of what you need.
